Some of the incredible musicians we’ve hosted…

Antoine Boyer & Yeore Kim

For one night only in May 2025, we were honored to host internationally renowned duo Antoine Boyer (guitar) and Yeore Kim (harmonica).

Antoine Boyer draws inspiration from the most authentic sources of gypsy jazz guitar, having studied under masters such as Mandino Reinhardt and Francis Alfred Moerman. He has toured extensively, gracing stages at numerous gypsy jazz festivals across Europe and the US, and has shared the stage with legendary guitarists Stochelo Rosenberg, Angelo Debarre, Raphael Fays, and many others. In addition to his mastery of gypsy jazz, Antoine is also a classically trained guitarist, winning the prestigious 2015 Montigny Classical Guitar Competition and earning the "Révélation Guitare Classique 2016" award from the esteemed French magazine Guitare Classique. His eclectic musical background has shaped a unique playing style that seamlessly blends various guitar styles accumulated over the years.

Yeore Kim, a harmonica virtuoso, has been a prominent figure in the Korean jazz scene since her teenage years. A multi-instrumentalist, she is proficient in trumpet, drums, cello, and piano. Yeore holds a master's degree from Seoul Music University and has achieved victories at esteemed competitions such as the Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival, Seoul Harmonica Festival, and the World Harmonica Festival. She has lent her talents to diverse music groups, touring extensively in Korea, India, Japan and more recently Europe, across genres ranging from jazz and reggae to theater collaborations, tango, pop, and rock.

The paths of Antoine and Yeore converged in 2018 at the Gypsy Jazz Festival of Taipei, Taiwan, where they shared the stage for the first time. Recognizing the magic of their musical connection, they decided to form a duo, both in music and in life. Their musical chemistry knows no bounds, captivating audiences with a repertoire that spans pop and jazz standards alongside mesmerizing originals.

From the strum of the guitar to the soul-stirring wail of the harmonica, their unique fusion transports listeners to a realm where every note tells a story.

Simba Baumgartner & Adrien Marco

For one week in March 2025, The Piedmont Hot Club continued its series of curated concerts with internationally renowned French guitarists Simba Baumgartner and Adrien Marco. Simba & Adrien are two of the most exciting players of the young generation of authentic players carrying on the Django Reinhardt tradition. Read more below about Adrien & Simba and their busy week in North Carolina!

Simba Baumgartner is the great-grandson of Django and grew up in Samois-sur-Seine surrounded by music and his family’s legacy.  He plays in the authentic Jazz Manouche way, having learned it directly from his elders and some the greatest musicians of the style. Proud of his origins, he represents his musical culture by paying homage to his ancestors, while also revealing his own vision.

Adrien Marcogrew up not far from Samois where Django spent his last years and the home of the original Django Reinhardt Festival.  He was drawn to learning the guitar after hearing Django’s music, and taught himself to play by trying to recreate what he heard.  His graceful and dynamic playing makes him a sought after musician on the world stage.

Giangiacomo Rosso & Filippo Dall’Asta

For one week in September 2024, The Piedmont Hot Club presented two very talented up-and-coming European guitarists in the Django tradition: Filippo Dall’Asta and Giangiacomo Rosso.

Filippo Dall’Asta is an Italian-born guitarist, composer, bandleader and arranger, mixing the sounds of Gypsy jazz with bebop and classical music, to forge his own style of progressive guitar playing. Filippo began playing at the age of 5 in Parma, Italy, and studied music in his native country as well as Germany, France, Holland and India. He is the founder of the Master Accelerator and Gypsy Jazz Guitar Makeover Coaching programs. His touring resume covers Germany, India, Italy, France, Spain, England, Malta and Russia, with notable appearances at The Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury Festival, the House of Parliament, the Tower of London, the Union Chapel, and many festivals in France and Italy. Filippo is currently based in Spain and is working on his next album "The Hot Club of Tenerife", which will be released in October 2024.

Giangiacomo Rosso, inspired by Django Reinhardt, is a self-taught gypsy jazz musician and has been influenced by well-known contemporary artists such as Bireli Lagrene and Adrien Moignard. After honing his skills with renowned musicians, he began a successful career as a soloist with the Gipsy Accident Trio and now leads the quintet "Hot Club de Turin", which is reminiscent of Django Reinhardt's legendary group. Rosso is planning new musical projects with Manouche Jazz musicians from all over Europe and will perform at major European Manouche Jazz festivals, including the Django Reinhard Festival in Fontainebleau and Festival Django L'H in Barcelona.

Sam Farthing

In April 2024, The Piedmont Hot Club hosted Sam Farthing, an incredibly talented young guitarist from Baltimore, MD. Sam picked up the guitar at a very young age and it wasn’t long before he discovered Django - and that was it! He’s dedicated himself to Django and other gypsy music ever since and is fast being recognized as one of the top young Django-inspired guitarists in the world! We were fortunate to host him for two weeks, playing a number of events in the area. He’s appeared at music festivals all over the U.S. and has started to appear at festivals and on recordings in Europe. We sincerely hope we can catch this rising star again soon!
