Giangiacomo Rosso & Filippo Dall’Asta
For one week in September 2024, The Piedmont Hot Club presented two very talented up-and-coming European guitarists in the Django tradition: Filippo Dall’Asta and Giangiacomo Rosso.
Filippo Dall’Asta is an Italian-born guitarist, composer, bandleader and arranger, mixing the sounds of Gypsy jazz with bebop and classical music, to forge his own style of progressive guitar playing. Filippo began playing at the age of 5 in Parma, Italy, and studied music in his native country as well as Germany, France, Holland and India. He is the founder of the Master Accelerator and Gypsy Jazz Guitar Makeover Coaching programs. His touring resume covers Germany, India, Italy, France, Spain, England, Malta and Russia, with notable appearances at The Royal Albert Hall, Glastonbury Festival, the House of Parliament, the Tower of London, the Union Chapel, and many festivals in France and Italy. Filippo is currently based in Spain and is working on his next album "The Hot Club of Tenerife", which will be released in October 2024.
Giangiacomo Rosso, inspired by Django Reinhardt, is a self-taught gypsy jazz musician and has been influenced by well-known contemporary artists such as Bireli Lagrene and Adrien Moignard. After honing his skills with renowned musicians, he began a successful career as a soloist with the Gipsy Accident Trio and now leads the quintet "Hot Club de Turin", which is reminiscent of Django Reinhardt's legendary group. Rosso is planning new musical projects with Manouche Jazz musicians from all over Europe and will perform at major European Manouche Jazz festivals, including the Django Reinhard Festival in Fontainebleau and Festival Django L'H in Barcelona.
